The History and Structure

The Background of ESF

The roots of the Enabling Support Foundation can be found in the 1980s when the pioneers of computer networking were persons with disabilities and teachers of K-12 education.  It was within this milieu that the future leaders of the Enabling Support Foundation learned the basics of telecomputing.  There are two important features of this early background.  The first feature is experience in the application of technology to persons with disabilities and education for mainstream and special needs students.  The second feature is based on the relatively low levels of technology that was available in the 1980's when the World Wide Web had not yet been invented.

During the past 10 years we have made a concerted effort to develop an Internet Community of sites which pursue social good in human development and enrichment.  The Community is named Peace Flame and appears as a menu tab on your screen.  Select it to learn more.

Bob Zenhausern assumed the role of ESF Director.  He recognized the early experience with low technology and persons with special needs would be of particular benefit to emerging countries.

ESF has a goal of increasing communication and collaboration online.  The Peace Flame network has emerged from those efforts.  Peace Flame tab.

The Education Special Forces tab brings you to the ESF initiative to bring Education into the 21st Century.  Our goal is children coming to school reading and writing.
