Action for Autism

SYNOPSIS:  What the Autism Society of America is for Autism in the United States, Action For Autism (AFA) is for India.  This group was founded in 1991 by parents.  Although their primary focus is to support those effected by autism in India, they actively reach out to share "information and resources with autism organizations and families worldwide".

>  Basic Information about the diagnosis of Autism

>  Services & Activities - Overview:  This section provide an outline of all their services with the appropriate links.  AFA provides:

  • Assessments: Diagnostic, Functional and Occupational/Sensory
  • Intervention Programs including: a Parent-Child Early Intervention Program, a day school, a work skills training center, a program to assist with developing work behaviors, educational training when child is "mainstreamed", social skills training, handwriting training, inclusive hobby classes, home management training, and occupational/sensory assistance and training.
  • Family Support Services include family counseling and respite care.
  • Educational services include workshops, trainings, and an ASD special education Diploma program.
  • Publications include The Autism Network, The Autism Journal, and training manuals.
  • Advocacy services include public awareness programs, public policy advocacy projects, and community networking.  The Network Project includes an extensive link to Autism Organizations Worldwide.
