Dr. Zenhausern retired as a Full Professor of Psychology after 35 years of teaching and research. He has directed 100 Ph.D. and Masters Theses and published or presented over 200 scientific articles.  Research into the nature of reading disability went from blind theory to specific solutions in the Causes and Cures of reading disability during a 10 year research program.  This presentation will trace that evolution on the basis of published scientific articles.  The textbook for this class is an Expert Paper for the UN that can be found at Neuropsychological Bases of Reading Disability.

An Outline of the Talk
•    An interactive demonstration of the diversity in conscious thinking based the introspection of visual and other modality imagery.
•    An interactive demonstration showing how our conscious experiences of thinking affects the way we learn.
•    Neuropsychological educational research pointing at the cause of reading disability.
•    Applied educational research pointing to the treatment of reading disability.
•    An appreciation for the power of learning styles.

Goals
•    Clarify the meaning of Reading.
•    Acquaint teachers and parents with the cause of reading disability and how easy it can be to eliminate.
•    Encourage teachers and parents to implement some of the ideas expressed in this talk
•    Bring together like minded parents and educators in an ongoing and expanding discussion.
